Keith was born in Brockton, Massachusetts in 1954 and is now based in Denver, Colorado. He has studied at the California Institute of the Arts, San Francisco Art Institute, and Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts in China.  Since 1993, Keith has taught at the University of Denver. While Keith also creates drawings and sculptures that are representational, it is his abstract paintings for which he is best known. Using a trowel and a scraper, Keith has developed an unconventional technique of repeatedly layering pigment onto the canvas and then scraping it off again. Traces of this process are apparent in the vertical and horizontal strokes remaining on the canvas. A specialist in color theory, Keith creates deceptively complex images that resonate tonally with seasonal and geographical references. [Bio from Juicy Paint Exhibition, input by R.
